okay, i absolutely have to rant about this even though none of you would actually know what i'm talking about except for cass.
As i learn more about Gazette, it is getting more evident that they are copy-cats. I'm not sure how similar do they sound alike to Dir en grey but Uruha's style is sooo Sugizo, Reita's bass playing is soo J and Ruki is sooo hide. Ruki has an excuse if he's somehow happened to be hide's son but wtf. He copied hide's everfree video of singing with a cigarette with an olden-days-microphone and wore a jacket very similar to hide's.
As much as i love Gazette's music and kai, it just ain't right. There's nth i can specifically like about them and with that they lost their uniqueness. X japan made it to the top because they were the pioneers of jrock and founder of visual kei; they were VERY unique. Visual kei is only one style and it couldn't be helped that they have to somehow look alike but direct rip offs? That's a very big NO-NO.
I think i'll just listen to their music and watch only kai's drum solo. Okay fine, even kai's drum solo in Gazette's concert sounds exactly like J's bass solo in Luna Sea's infinity capacity concert. But kai's drumming is very light hearted and he makes it look like drumming is the funnest thing in the world; not forgetting his smile is a definite killer.
*update
[warning: serious contradiction]
after watching various gazette videos... its alright if they copied a little right? haha! Lets call it influence; they did cite Luna Sea and X japan as their influential bands. All bands copy, just like how a couple of yoshiki songs sounded a little similar to guns n roses's. So i'm all fine with it now (:
