i'm back from tai guo and had a whopping good time; did a large scale shopping which only came up to SGD$70. The prices there were so hot that i came back with a fever; temperature now is 38.7
And there were some juicy news in their gazette; something about protesting against temasek. Wanted to blog about it but cass warned me of being sued. *shruggs* Since i can't give my views on it, i'll just state facts and show you what their journalist wrote. So i'll just scan it and post it here for everyone to read. You should really see it, the burning image of our PM's effigy.
But really, is the blood donation scandal the first sign of corruption here? We've been in the dark for the past 40-odd years and have been coaxed with the "we are top XX in the least corrupted countries."
In addition, in gazettes outside sg, there have been many articles questioning the govt use of state funds; quote Asia Times "Temasek and Government Investment Corp (GIC) control well over US$230 billion in undisclosed regional assets." Why is there so much money that we are not knowing how is it dealt with? Here's another interesting quote "The International Monetary Fund has persistently recommended that the Singaporean Government disclose publicly more information about its investment holdings and their rates of return - a request that the senior Lee has unswervingly declined. Lee Kuan Yew and Lee Hsien Loong head GIC's executive board; Temasek's executive director, Ho Ching, is the junior Lee's wife." Fyi, GIC is the acronym for Government Investment Corp which invest national reserves. So is this simply nepotism or...?
And oh! one of the many threats made by the protestants was exceptionally interesting, "We will inform the singapore people all the mistakes committed by temasek." hmmmmm. Our country's next destination? The foot of the hill.
