BOXING DAY at ARDEN FAIR
first shop was Hot Topic, it sells clothes which are more to the punk side and also, anime stuffs! They had naruto boxers which i wanted to get for bro but there aren't any size S. Anyway, they are selling junk food clothes for USD$19. WTF! Singapore's selling it for around $60? From that shop, i bought 2 tops and a pair of jeans.
Then just next door was quiksilver. i got 3 roxy tops each around USD$18. i spent quite abit of time choosing 3 tops. HO HO HO, that pissed sis off.
I got a little hungry and went into a chocolate shop, See's Candy. Their creations are AMAZING. and whats more amazing is that when you ask for a sample, they give you a WHOLE PIECE. unlike back home where they'll cut it into 6 smaller bits for samples! okay, if you dun know what i'm talking about, i'm referring to those chocolate shops where they display their chocolates in a display fridge then you choose the ones you want and pay according to its total weight. So imagine you sampled one piece in See's candy and then buy one more. its literally buy one get one free lah! those who go there and sample every one without purchasing anything should die.
We continued walking and walking and walking and THEN, i saw..........women's heaven. Well, it might be sick to call it that but i can't find a suitable phrase for it now. It was Victoria Secret! ITS DAMN BLOOODY NICE!! i bought 5 undies under the "Pink" section; meant for teenagers.
Then i walked passed this shop, 'Build a Bear'. Its damn funny lah! One will choose a basic soft toy skin, then continue with the 'stuffing' of the animal..the process of the stuffing looks like the bear is having anal sex. LOL!! Then they got a HUDE variety of clothes and shoes and accessories for the teddybear. wahhahahahs! i would have gotten one but i see no practical use in it.
We then head on for a midnight movie of Eragon. The movie ticketing system in the US is kinda weird. When we buy tickets, we weren't assigned any seats. Seatings are at a first come first serve basis. So we can just walk in there and sit anywhere we like regardless of how late we buy our tickets. HAHAHHAS!
Actually, i went to see some schools yesterday; America River College and California State University, Sacramento to take a look. Its nice. reallly! I like it here better than singapore, not the schools but the whole lifestyle and culture. i dun really know why..maybe cuz i'm quite ang moh pai.
and people here are generally much nicer than most those back home. Singapore has her fair bit of nice people, but i've seen more 'ugly' behaviour in singapore than in california. One thing about sacramento that struck me hard is their friendliness, they're so friendly that i felt so awkward at first. My sis was telling me how she liked this drink at this shop and the person infront of us could just turn around and say she likes it too and we could have easily struck up a conversation. if this were to happen in singapore, i would definitely fake a smile and say 'oh really?' and look away thinking she's some weirdo. In restaurants, waiters are ALWAYS on the look out for what you need. They don't wait for you to ask, they bring it to you automatically, they top up your drinks and snacks without you asking, at least this was the case for the restuarants i've been going to. i get fedup with services back home ALOT of times, when i want something, it'll often take years to reach me and when it do, they just dump it infront of me. People in this city have a lot of passion in their job, be it a waiter or a salesgirl, they take pride and serve people with warmth. *shruggs* i'm sure that with time, i'll see a lot of things here which i won't like either, but with just these first impressions, sacramento beat singapore hands down in terms of services. Even SIA disappointed me, a couple of the flight attendants were really stuck up. i like it when people smile, and not do things for the sake of doing things. I know services sucks in other parts of america, but if i'm to be in any part of america in any near future, it'll only be here.
